Description

Tradestaff are seeking a Steel Fixer to join us for an immediate start!

Responsibilities:

  • Rebar Installation: Interpret construction drawings and specifications to accurately install steel reinforcement bars (rebar) in concrete structures, including columns, beams, and foundations.
  • Fabrication and Cutting: Cut, bend, and shape rebar using hand tools, such as rebar cutters and benders, to meet project requirements and specifications.
  • Layout and Positioning: Layout rebar according to engineering plans and blueprints, ensuring proper spacing, alignment, and placement within concrete forms.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and guidelines, including proper handling of rebar materials, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and safe work practices to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct visual inspections of rebar installations to ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and quality requirements.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other construction trades, such as concrete workers, carpenters, and masons, to coordinate activities and achieve project milestones.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of rebar quantities, sizes, and placement locations for project documentation and reporting purposes.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Proven experience as a steel fixer or similar role in the construction industry, with a solid understanding of rebar installation techniques and practices.
  • Skills: Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications. Ability to use hand tools, such as rebar cutters and benders, effectively.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and carrying heavy rebar materials, in various weather conditions and work environments.
  • Safety Awareness: Strong commitment to workplace safety and knowledge of safety protocols, including proper handling of rebar materials and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Teamwork: Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with other construction trades and project stakeholders.
  • Attention to Detail: Keen attention to detail and accuracy in layout, positioning, and installation of rebar to ensure structural integrity and compliance with project requirements.
