Stepping Stone Trust (SST) is a Charitable Trust that offers a range of community-based support services for adults, youth and families who live in Canterbury and Dunedin. Growth over the past few years has prompted our organisation to begin a new phase of development that will take us into the future. The Southern Region is at the forefront of creating positive and enabling environments for our mental health community that supports them in their journey to lead positive and fulfilling lives.

We have 3 full-time Team Leader vacancies within our Southern (Dunedin) team. Our team provides a high standard of care and support for tāngata with brain injuries, intellectual differences and/or mental health conditions, enabling our tāngata to live full and positive lives.

Given the diversity of our tāngata, we require Team Leaders who have a range of different skill sets and experience including Peer, Operational and Behavioural. All shifts require some degree of weekend work.

About the role l Mō Te Tūnga

In this role you will be supporting the Service Manager in providing direction and coordination to the Southern service. You will be responsible for:

  • Directing, overseeing, and participating in all facets of clinical care and general service delivery of Crisis and Planned Respite services
  • Ensuring the delivery of positive, supportive, consistent, safe, homely and professional care
  • Monitoring, planning and engaging with tāngata regarding their health and wellbeing
  • Ensuring the smooth transition in and out of our services and ensuring the aims and goals of admission are met
  • Day to day management of staff providing support and direction to staff within the services
  • Liaising with external agencies as required.

You will also be a member of the on-call team, both on shift and on a shared roster, that includes covering all SST Southern premises. This position is 40 hours per week.

The salary for this role ranges from $80,000 to $100,000 per year, depending on your qualifications and years of experience in a similar leadership role.

About you l Mōu

We are seeking an experienced person who is passionate about the sector and is proficient in providing support for our tāngata and staff in order to plan, implement and meet their health care needs.

You will have experience of leading teams that support mental health conditions, and/or addictions, and you will be passionate about the serving these communities.

In this role you will have:

  • A mininum of Level 4 in Health and Wellbeing, an undergraduate degree or an Allied Health qualificaiton is preferred
  • A compassionate and caring nature with good communication skills
  • The ability to assess a situation and decide a course of action quickly
  • A willingness to commit to and support the bicultural journey that Stepping Stone Trust is on as we live out our partnership under Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles
  • Experience leading teams through rapidly changing circumstances and environments
  • The ability to coach and mentor colleagues within your team and organisation
  • The skills to think "outside the box" and use your initiative when confronted with new or complex situations
  • An awareness of community supports and agencies that are able to benefit our tāngata
  • Strong organisational skills for managing your workload alongside good verbal and written communication skills
  • A strong (intermediate) level of computer literacy
  • Experience training, overseeing, auditing and implementing medication administration and management
  • Experience in staff leadership and management of teams
  • Experience managing the adherence to auditing and reporting of compliance requirements
  • A full, clean New Zealand driver's licence is essential.
