Description

Our Christchurch based client is a leading marine and industrial engineering company. Creating for their clients a range of plant and structures including steam and hot water boilers, pressure vessels and piping systems, heat exchangers, ducting, material handling systems and lifting equipment. They pride themselves on quality engineering without the stuffy attitudes and red tape!

They design and manufacture boilers and pressure vessels with a comprehensive range of steam and high pressure hot water systems and combustion equipment. Many boilers have been produced for locations all over New Zealand, ranging up to 25MW in size and utilising oil, gas/biogas, biofuels, and coal as fuels.

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented and passionate Industrial Boiler Technician to join their team at Lyttelton dockside for a full-time, permanent position. The purpose of the role is to provide technical support for commissioning, fault-finding, tuning and upgrades to industrial and marine boiler combustion and "State of the Art" control systems. With regular overnight travel to sites outside of Christchurch, this role is varied and requires a strong technical and analytical ability to provide effective solutions for clients throughout NZ.

Key tasks for the role include;

  • Attend breakdowns, carry out fault finding of boiler combustion and control systems.
  • Carry out combustion tuning of industrial and marine gas, diesel and solid fuel fired boilers.
  • Commissioning of new or upgraded boiler plant.
  • Communication with customers is of high importance, your ability to communicate verbally and in writing is integral in this role.

You must bring!

  • Extensive experience working with industrial solid fuel and gas/diesel burners, boilers and associated control systems.
  • At least 4 years of maintenance, installation and commissioning work, with an electrical or mechanical trade or gas-fitting qualification.
  • Excellent technical and report writing skills along with the ability to read and interpret drawings and schematics.
  • Be self-driven and motivated to deliver excellence to customers.
  • A full driver's licence.

Additional Information:

  • Guaranteed minimum of 40 hours a week (8 am - 4:30 pm Monday to Friday)
  • $44- $48 per hour + overtime available at T1.5 and T2
  • Ongoing development and training.
  • 5 weeks leave after 5 years.
  • Mobile phone, laptop and work Vehicle provided.
  • Relocation assistance if needed.
