Role Overview:

As Building Control Team Leader, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring regulatory compliance and overseeing our building control operations. You will lead a dedicated team, utilizing your expertise to uphold the highest standards of safety, quality, and adherence to regulatory frameworks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of building control professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure efficient and effective delivery of building control services, including plan assessments, inspections, and enforcement actions.
  • Provide guidance and support to staff, facilitating their professional development and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders, external agencies, and community groups to promote understanding and compliance with building regulations and standards.
  • Keep abreast of legislative changes, industry best practices, and emerging trends to inform decision-making and enhance service delivery.

Requirements:

  • Relevant Level 7 diploma or degre
  • Minimum of Regulation 18 Qualification and competency assessment R1 - C1 (or higher in processing and inspections)
  • At least 5 years of experience in building control or regulatory compliance.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Building Act, Local Government Act, Resource Management Act, and District Plan.
  • Familiarity with obligations under the Te tiriti o Waitangi and their implications for building control practices.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities, resolve conflicts, and drive positive outcomes in a dynamic environment.
