About the role CARTERS has an exciting opportunity for a talented and motivated branch manager to launch our new purpose-built branch which is planned for opening in Levin, north of Wellington mid 2024. This is a great opportunity for an experienced people leader to get stuck in and build a branch from the ground up. We're on the hunt for someone who can recruit a strong team from scratch and lead a new team to success. As the branch manager you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the branch with a strong focus on sales to grow our market share in the region.

The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of operations, preferably from previous work experience in an operational setting. That, in addition to your commercial and leadership expertise, will allow you to work alongside your team and Area Manager to:

  • Pursuing customer satisfaction by partnering with and developing relationships with customers and suppliers - ensuring your team provides complete solutions and packages for our customers.
  • Leading and developing team members - driving staff engagement, encouraging growth and creating a high performance environment.
  • Complete management of full branch financials maximising revenue and managing costs.
  • Full accountability for health & safety, ensuring our team return safely home every day.

About you You'll succeed in this role because you have the following skills, experience and values:

  • Proven leadership with overall responsibility for your financials, staff management and operational growth.
  • An eye for emerging markets. You understand the value of price and margin in building a profitable business.
  • Highly self-motivated. You work well autonomously and have a natural desire to grow your team, develop their training needs and maximise branch profitability.
  • Strong commercial adaptability and agility. You're a fast learner, thrive on challenges and can adapt quickly to market changes.
  • Business Management - ideally with sound sales capability built into your management experience
  • Understanding of operations. Preferably from previous work experience in an operational setting.
  • Building or trade industry knowledge is advantageous, however, we have a comprehensive Branch Manager Training Programme which will give you all you need to excel in this role.
