Description

We are looking for a Payroll Assistant to join our People Operations team! Based at our Head Office in Manukau, this is a fixed term full-time position for 12 months to cover parental leave.

As part of a close-knit team, you will also get the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of payroll. Duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • Assisting the HR and payroll team in the administrative and procedural tasks associated with the ongoing maintenance of our SAM Workforce Management system (Scheduling and Attendance System)
  • Monitoring and maintenance of SAM system uptake and issues including data integrity, organisational structures, and business rules
  • Ongoing SAM system reporting for business users, payroll and HR team
  • Assist with the preparation, calculation, and processing of the fortnightly payroll, including commission, allowances, tax, PAYE, and other government returns. Processing includes, uploading timesheets, and checking data and leave.
  • Liaise with relevant Store Managers to follow up on outstanding queries to ensure that the payroll is processed in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with third parties including Inland Revenue, and ACC.
  • Maintain personnel records, validating new employee setup, making amendments and processing terminations.
  • Support other team members as required, particularly during the fortnightly pay run.

You will maintain a high level of accuracy, efficiency, and attention to detail, ensuring that work generated meets required timeframes. Strong administrative skills are key, but some of the other attributes we are looking for include:

  • Familiar with an office environment and well-developed computer literacy skills with basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Accurate, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Able to communicate clearly, both verbally and written.
  • Familiar and adept with high processing levels, possessing fast data entry capability.
  • Ability to interact proactively, and professionally, with management and staff at all levels of the organisation.
  • 1 year+ payroll experience (desirable).
  • Experience within a large organisation and/or involving multiple business sites (desirable).
