About the Role
We are looking for a detail-driven Rostering Configuration Specialist to join our People Culture team. In this role, you will be responsible for the administration and configuration of our rostering system, including the award interpreter and pay rules (Tambla).
This is a critical role within a complex, highly regulated health environment, where accurate rostering and pay rule interpretation directly impact employee experience and payroll outcomes. With over 50 collective agreement variations, your ability to translate legislation and agreements into system configuration is key.
On-the-job training will be provided, making this a great opportunity for someone with strong technical aptitude and payroll or rostering experience looking to specialise.
Key Responsibilities
System Configuration Integrity
- Configure and maintain pay rules to ensure accurate and timely rostering and payroll outputs
- Ensure system and data integrity across rostering and related systems
- Interpret the Holidays Act and collective agreements (MECA/SECA) into technical configurations
- Ensure changes do not adversely impact existing Canterbury, West Coast, or wider organisational rules
Operational Support
- Build and implement requirements provided by Holidays Act and Employment Collective teams
- Apply robust testing methodologies and obtain appropriate sign-offs
- Support system changes post go-live and resolve issues as they arise
- Stay up to date with vendor system updates and enhancements
- Apply understanding of healthcare operations to inform system decisions
Collaboration Teamwork
- Work closely with Workforce, HR Systems, Payroll, and Holidays Act teams
- Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, other Health Districts, and system vendors
- Liaise regularly with stakeholders to troubleshoot and resolve issues
Training Support
- Act as a key point of contact for system queries
- Provide guidance, training, and support to users including Workforce, Payroll, and AskHR teams
- Deliver second-tier support and build user capability to reduce system queries
- Participate in ongoing learning and development opportunities
Customer Service Compliance
- Deliver a professional, responsive service to employees and teams
- Ensure all information is handled in accordance with the Privacy Act
About You
You are technically minded, analytical, and thrive in a complex environment where accuracy matters.
You will bring:
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
- A solid understanding of the Holidays Act 2003 and payroll processes
- Experience working with technical rules within a rostering or payroll system
- Sound testing and process improvement experience
- Strong numerical and analytical capability with a curious mindset
- Experience applying Te Tiriti o Waitangi in practice
Desirable:
- Tertiary qualification and/or 5+ years' experience in rostering, payroll, or a related field
- Experience with MicRoster or similar rostering systems
