About the Role
Payment of our health kaimahi is governed by numerous employment agreements that are regularly reviewed and updated. Ensuring our pay systems accurately reflect these ongoing changes is complex work that requires collaboration, precision, and strong planning.
As our Collective Agreement Implementations Specialist, you will play a crucial role in supporting and delivering collective agreement implementation activities across our district. This mahi ensures our people are paid accurately, fairly, and in alignment with legislative and contractual entitlements.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will support and/or lead implementation activities including:
- Coordinating planning and preparation for collective agreement changes.
- Acting as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders.
- Preparing and validating data sets required for implementation.
- Establishing and updating employee entitlements, including keying rate changes.
- Working with unions to ensure accurate membership records.
- Coordinating union lists, opt-out processes, and ballots.
- Producing employee correspondence, including mail merges and templated letters.
- Calculating arrears and lump-sum payments for both individual and bulk situations.
- Translating new collective agreement requirements into system configuration and understanding impacts on payroll and rostering systems.
- Coordinating and implementing derived IEA offers.
- Monitoring and processing employee responses to ensure payroll accuracy.
- Contributing to FAQs, guidance documents, and other employee-facing communications.
- Collaborating with other Districts and national groups to support implementation activity and share data.
- Ensuring alignment with legislative requirements and collective agreement compliance.
- Performing scheduled monitoring to ensure entitlements and pay data remain accurate and robust.
- Supporting post-implementation reviews and continuous improvement.
- Working with cross-functional teams to deliver a seamless, customer-focused implementation experience.
- Contributing to training, project work, and other activities as required by the Collective Agreement Implementations Lead
About You
Skills Experience
Essential:
- Knowledge of pay-related processes and practices within Waitaha and Te Tai o Poutini Districts.
- Strong understanding of relevant employment agreement terms and conditions.
- Proficiency with PSe and/or MicRoster.
- Solid understanding of the Holidays Act 2003, Parental Leave Act, Kiwisaver Act, and Wages Protection Act.
- Strong MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and willingness to upskill.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- High attention to detail with strong problem-solving and critical-thinking capabilities.
- Experience putting Te Tiriti o Waitangi into action within your work.
Desired:
- Experience with SQL queries, or willingness and aptitude to learn essential SQL skills.
