About the Role – Mō te Tūranga

This Head Office role plays a critical part in supporting the organisation by providing accurate, timely, and compliant payroll administration alongside effective recruitment coordination and general HR administrative support.

The Payroll and HR Administrator ensure employees are paid correctly and on time, recruitment and onboarding processes are well coordinated, and HR documentation and records are maintained to a high standard. Working closely with managers, employees, Finance, and the HR team, this role supports a positive employee experience while ensuring compliance with New Zealand employment legislation, organisational policies, and agreed processes.

This is a hands-on, detail-focused role that requires strong organisation, sound judgement, and a high level of confidentiality. You’ll be a key point of support for payroll accuracy, HR administration, and recruitment coordination across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

· Deliver end-to-end payroll processing in line with pay cycles, employment agreements, and NZ legislation (PAYE, KiwiSaver, ACC, Holidays Act) · Maintain accurate employee, payroll, and leave records · Process payroll changes including new starters, terminations, pay variations, and allowances · Respond to payroll enquiries confidentially and in a timely manner · Complete regular leave and timesheet audits to ensure accuracy and compliance · Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies, escalating where required · Provide guidance to managers and staff on timesheet and leave processes · Maintain and improve HR templates, policies, and documentation · Support recruitment and onboarding processes, including shortlisting and interview coordination · Maintain accurate employee and recruitment records in line with privacy requirements · Assist with HR projects, reporting, audits, and data requests · Ensure all documentation is accurate, timely, and confidential · Work within approved systems and processes, identifying improvement opportunities · Support compliance with organisational policies and employment legislation.

About You – Ngā Kōrero Mōu

You’re detail-oriented, reliable, and take pride in getting things right. You bring a calm, methodical approach to your work and are comfortable managing competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

You understand the importance of payroll accuracy and confidentiality and enjoy supporting others by providing clear, practical advice.

You’ll likely bring:

· Relevant tertiary qualification and/or equivalent experience in payroll and HR administration · Sound knowledge of New Zealand employment legislation, including the Holidays Act · Experience using HumanForce or similar HRIS/payroll systems · Experience with technical payroll, including 24/7 services, allowances, and complex rostering environments · Recruitment and/or onboarding experience, including coordination of interviews and employment documentation · Strong written and verbal communication skills · High attention to detail and strong organisational skills · The ability to manage deadlines, workflows, and confidential information · A collaborative approach and the confidence to work with managers and staff across the organisation.
