To support increased stocking rates and development we are seeking a motivated shepherd with a keen attitude to learn.
Lilburne is located in Lees Valley, 40km inland of Oxford, Canterbury. Lilburne is a family owned and operated property running 9000SU made up of sheep and beef breeding and fattening stock, ranging from steep hill country to irrigated flats.
Lilburne offers a motivated shepherd the opportunity to grow their knowledge in animal performance, pasture management, training dogs as well as some fencing, irrigation, tractor work and other key farming skills. You will work alongside the farm manager and other family members as required or with our fencer general. Weekends will be rostered.
2 bedroom accommodation provided with wifi. Lees Valley has a number of young shepherds on neighbouring properties, good hunting and fishing and the Oxford township (50 mins away) has a strong rugby and other sporting clubs.
The successful applicant will require:
A minimum of two working dogs under excellent command Strong stockmanship skills A proven good work ethic Tidy, honest, and reliable, with excellent attention to detail Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team Good understanding of farm technology and record-keeping systems (e.g. Farm IQ) Sound farm health and safety practices
