Agriculture Machinery Operator

We are seeking an experienced Agricultural Machinery Operator to join our team. The primary purpose of this role is the operation of tractors and mobile plant to support crop production, including land preparation, cultivation, crop maintenance, and harvesting

Alexander Spraying Ltd is a family-owned agricultural contracting business. We provide boom spraying, drilling, cultivation & baling services to our clients. We additionally run a cropping and sheep & beef farm. There will be times that you will assist with work on the farm.

As part of these duties, the operator will use tractor-mounted and self-propelled machinery for precision crop spraying, applying liquids and solids according to established farm procedures. This requires prior experience with a full season of spraying and a full season of tractor operation. Spraying is performed as part of machinery operation under farm protocols — it is not independent chemical advisory work.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate tractors and mobile plant across seasonal farm operations
• Apply agrichemicals using machinery safely and effectively under standard procedures
• Conduct machinery pre-start checks and routine maintenance
• Follow all health, safety, and environmental protocols
• Work extended hours during peak season, including early mornings and weekends Requirements:
• Proven experience operating agricultural machinery and sprayers
• Full-season spraying experience with tractor-mounted or self-propelled equipment
• Strong understanding of farm safety practices
• Ability to work independently in a rural environment
• Full driver licence
• Is good with numbers and has technical / IT awareness
• Is a team player and who will relate well to our clients
• Experience driving machinery on hills is an advantage We are offering:

We are an agricultural contracting business, which is located in South Canterbury, in the Waimate District. We work with small to large clients and varying terrain working on flat land by the sea through up into the hills. We are centrally located to beaches, mountains, lakes and cities.
