We are currently seeking a Laborer/Junior Irrigation Technician to join our field team.
WE ARE NOW LOOKING FOR AN ENTRY LEVEL PERSON/ENERGETIC YOUNG PERSON KEEN TO LEARN AND GROW!!! This job is in a rural setting.
This role is a permanent position and has plenty of room for growth within the company. We currently staff 7 Technicians and 2 Administration staff - small but busy team located in North Canterbury
The role will include installing new fixed grid irrigation systems, new mainline in PVC pipe and Polyethene pipe and carrying out maintenance on these systems. Our service area is North of the Waimakariri River with a bulk of the work being in the Culverden area. You will learn to install polyethene, pvc and galvansied pipe work and fittings, learn how to thread and assemble galvanised pipe work and be involved in all aspects of on farm plumbing and water needs.

We need a technician to join our team who will take pride in their work, have good communication skills with farmers and staff and be able to perform tasks to our standard and reputation in the field. Someone who is keen, self driven and a quick learner so they can grow from a junior labourer into a lead technical over time.
Please review our website as we perform many roles in regards to on farm plumbing and water systems – As rural water technicians we perform a huge array of duties on farms and no day is the same as we prioritise urgent water repairs as well as new installations.
Successful applicant must have some of the following experience:
- Rural Background an advantage
- History working with general tools
- Confidence with trailers and securing loads or keen to learn
- Working with hand shovels and comfortable working around large contractor equipment
- Able to be on your feet for 10+ hours per day in a physical role and enjoy being outdoors
- Personality +++ We have a great team so we want to add another great person to our team of staff.
You must have an eye for detail, be confident working outdoors, be physically fit and punctual with good time management skills.
Applicant needs to follow instructions and be able to be self motivated and have energy when working
This is an entry level laboring role which will move into other parts of the irrigation sector including pump installation and maintenance and role extension will be offered
Hours of work are usually 7am starts. During busy season (spring summer) some 6am starts. This is a Monday – Friday Position (Weekends off and Public Holidays off) Guarantee minimum 40 hour week summer and winter.

- High level of communication both verbal and able to use mobile timesheet app (Simpro) to accurately record time worked, work notes and parts used onsite and mileage etc.
- A full driver’s license preferred - must hold a valid NZ drivers license to hold this role
