GM Designs Consulting Engineers Group Ltd Part-time (with potential to move to full-time) | Permanent Opportunity

GM Designs Consulting Engineers Group Ltd is a growing engineering consultancy providing structural, geotechnical, and building design services across residential, commercial, and rural projects.

We are currently seeking an Architectural Draughtsperson / Architectural Technician with at least 2 years’ experience to join our team. This role will begin part-time, with the potential to grow into a full-time permanent position as workload increases.

About the Role

You will work closely with our engineers and design team to produce architectural drawings and documentation for a variety of projects including:

  • Residential new builds and renovations
  • Structural alterations and extensions
  • Light commercial projects
  • Consent and construction documentation

The role will involve preparing plans for building consent, updating drawings following engineer comments, and assisting with design documentation through to construction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing architectural drawings and documentation
  • Producing building consent sets and construction details
  • Revising drawings following design changes and engineer comments
  • Coordinating drawings with structural design requirements
  • Assisting with project documentation and drawing management

About You We are looking for someone who is:

  • Experienced draughting residential or light commercial buildings
  • Competent using AutoCAD (Revit experience an advantage)
  • Familiar with New Zealand Building Code and consent documentation
  • Able to work independently and manage drawing revisions efficiently
  • Detail-oriented with strong organisational skills

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in architectural draughting or technician role
  • Experience preparing building consent documentation in New Zealand
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
