Heavy Diesel Mechanic / Plant Mechanic

Location: Silverdale / Auckland Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am – 5:00pm Optional Saturday work available

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Diesel / Plant Mechanic to join our workshop team. This is a hands-on role working across a large and diverse fleet of earthmoving and construction machinery, covering a wide range of machine types, sizes, makes, and models — ensuring no two days are the same.

You’ll be working in a well-equipped workshop with a practical, supportive team that values reliability, efficiency, and a get-it-done attitude. The role suits someone who enjoys solid hours, technical variety, and taking ownership when machines are down and customers need solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Servicing, repairs, and maintenance of heavy diesel and plant equipment

Diagnostics and fault finding across mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems

Responding to urgent repairs and breakdowns as required

Working efficiently to minimize machine downtime

Customer-facing interaction when attending breakdowns or discussing repairs

Maintaining clear and accurate job and service records

Ensuring all work is completed safely and to a high standard

Working collaboratively within the workshop and broader operations team

What We’re Looking For

Trade-qualified Heavy Diesel or Plant Mechanic (or strong equivalent experience)

Experience with earthmoving and construction machinery across multiple makes, models, and sizes

Strong work ethic — reliable, efficient, and willing to step up when required

Ability to handle pressure, particularly when machines are down

Comfortable dealing directly with customers in time-critical situations

Flexible mindset that fits a “get it done, whatever it takes” team culture

Full NZ driver’s license

Must be a NZ resident or hold a current valid NZ work visa
