About us Kumeu Diesel Services Ltd is a locally owned, hard-working workshop trusted by transport and civil contractors across West Auckland. We service and repair heavy trucks, trailers, and machinery — everything from scheduled maintenance and COF prep to diagnostics, brakes, driveline, hydraulics, and on-site call-outs. We’re steady, practical, and proud of the quality we deliver.
The opportunity We’re growing and looking for either:
- A Qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanic, or
- A 3rd or 4th Year Apprentice Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our Kumeū team. If you enjoy hands-on work, problem solving, and working on a wide range of heavy vehicles and equipment, this is a great opportunity.
What you’ll do
- Scheduled servicing, inspections and COF preparation
- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on engines, brakes, driveline, electrics, gearboxes, diffs and hydraulics
- Truck, trailer and machinery repairs and maintenance
- On-site and after-hours call-outs when required
- Keep accurate job notes and follow health & safety procedures
- Maintain a tidy, safe workspace and work as part of a small team
What you’ll bring
- Heavy Diesel qualification or currently completing apprenticeship (3rd or 4th year)
- Genuine interest in heavy vehicles and machinery
- Reliability, strong work ethic and willingness to learn
- Good communication and basic computer skills
- Class 1 NZ driver licence (Class 2/5 a bonus or opportunity to gain)
- Must already have the legal right to work in New Zealand
