Diesel Mechanic - Fixed Term Contract (Hamilton) Due to an exciting restoration project, we’re looking for an experienced, old-school Diesel Mechanic to join our team in Hamilton. This is a fixed-term opportunity to work on the restoration of classic construction and earthmoving equipment, bringing history back to life. You’ll be hands-on with early model Caterpillars, Detroit Diesels, Scrapers, and a range of other heritage machines - the perfect role for someone who loves the golden era of heavy machinery.
What You’ll Do
- Assist in the restoration of heavy machinery and early model earthmoving equipment.
- Maintain and respect all tools, equipment, and vehicles supplied by Porter.
- Carry out work safely and professionally, always following health and safety procedures.
- Ensure you and those around you wear appropriate PPE and work safely at all times.
- Present yourself in a tidy, responsible manner on site.
- Complete accurate time sheets and documentation.
- Follow instructions from your manager - safely and effectively.
About You
- We’re looking for someone who:
- Is a self-starter with strong initiative
- Manages time effectively and works unsupervised
- Has solid experience working on older model diesel or earthmoving equipment
- Is passionate about machinery and earthmoving history
- Takes pride in their workmanship and respects the tools and machines they work with
- Maintains a strong focus on health and safety
