Vehicle Spray Painter / Prepper

August Panel & Spray Ltd is still growing and looking for more staff. We have been in operation in Petone for more than 31 years specialising in all types of repairs including high quality vehicles, insurance claims, commercial and structural repairs.

We have a vacancy in our paint shop for a skilled worker with a min 3 years’ experience in Vehicle Spray Painting & Vehicle Paint Prepper to join our team & looking for up to 3 new team members. Duties will include preparation of vehicles and parts ready for painting, buffing, polishing, masking prime & prep etc. To be successful in this position you will need the following attributes.

Main tasks

• Prepares surfaces of vehicles for painting by cleaning, sanding and masking
• Matches and mixes paint colours to vehicle specifications
• Applies paint to vehicles using spray guns ensuring paint coverage is even and smooth
• Applies clear coat and other protective finishes to vehicles
• Inspects painted vehicles for quality and makes any necessary touch-ups or repairs

To be successful in this position you will need the following attributes:

• Excellent communication skills both written and oral;
• Ability to work without supervision and follow instructions;
• An eye for detail and the ability to produce high quality work.
• Work well in a team environment;
• Have a full licence with a clean driving record;
• Good presentation
• Be competent in all aspects of spray-painting techniques
• Be able to work efficiently and produce high quality work

Hours of work are 8.00am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday being a 40hr week and Saturday mornings 8.00am to 12.00pm (when required) Wage range $25-$40.00 based on experience and skills which we will discuss during the interview.
