Vehicle Sales Consultant – South Canterbury Toyota
Ready for a role where you can genuinely help people find the right vehicle and be part of a dealership that's seriously on the move? South Canterbury Toyota is growing fast — and we need an enthusiastic Vehicle Sales Consultant to join our team and help us continue that momentum.
We're part of the McDermid Auto Collective – a family-owned group of dealerships that spreads the South Island, and proud to represent Toyota – voted New Zealand's most reputable brand for the second year in a row (Kantar Corporate Reputation Index).
What the role involves:
You'll be working closely with customers, helping them navigate their options and guiding them towards the vehicle that best fits their lifestyle. Day to day, you'll be:
- Welcoming customers and creating a positive, genuine buying experience;
- Understanding customer needs and matching them with the right Toyota model;
- Supporting customers through test drives, trade-ins, and the full purchase process;
- Working closely with our Business Manager on finance and insurance options;
- Following up with leads, and building long-term customer relationships;
- Staying up-to-date with new Toyota models, features, and product knowledge;
- Contributing to the overall presentation and vibe of the showroom;
What we're looking for
- A people person — someone who's confident, approachable, and enjoys helping others;
- Proven sales experience, especially vehicle sales is a bonus, but not essential — attitude is everything;
- A driven personality, willing to make cold calls and go out on the road;
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust quickly;
- Motivation to achieve goals, plan, prepare, and take ownership of your performance;
- Comfortable using technology, CRM systems, and learning new tools;
- A team player who's keen to be part of a growing, supportive environment.
Why join us?
- Be part of a family-owned dealership with strong values and genuine community connection;
- Join a high-performing, supportive team with clear direction and exciting growth;
- We're making an impact in the community, donating nearly $30,000 this year to different charities and organisations;
- Be part of our exceptional track-record, including the 2017 Toyota New Vehicle Excellence Cup and Service Excellence award, the 2018 Toyota Used Vehicle Excellence Cup, 2019 Store of the Year Award and President's award, 2020 Parts & Accessories Excellence Cup, 2020 Toyota Supreme Award, 2021 Service Excellence Award, 2022 Toyota President's Award, 2023 Service Excellence Award (3-peat), and the 2024 President's Trophy;
- A competitive remuneration package, including training and development.
- Career progression opportunities within one of New Zealand's most trusted automotive networks.

If you're keen to build a long-term career with a successful team and a brand Kiwis trust, we'd love to hear from you.
