About the Role
- Oversee day‑to‑day precast and pipe‑spinning production
- Lead a team of ~10 operators, providing coaching, training and daily direction
- Ensure safety standards, quality checks, and production plans are met
- Coordinate materials, stock, equipment, and workflow
- Conduct toolbox meetings, inspections, and documentation tasks
- Liaise with the Production Manager on issues, performance, and improvements
Key Responsibilities
Health, Safety & Environment
- Conduct daily plant checks, lead toolbox meetings, monitor PPE, record incidents
- Promote safe behaviours and ensure all team members are fit for work
- Identify hazards, implement corrective actions, and support compliance activities
Quality
- Inspect moulds and components before and after production
- Complete/document concrete pre‑pour tests
- Ensure accurate branding, recording and post‑production testing
- Address defects and coordinate repairs with Fitters
Production & Planning
- Follow SOPs and Humes BMS
- Understand drawings/specifications for all products
- Achieve daily production targets and escalate issues promptly
Resource, Stock & Maintenance
- Ensure materials meet specifications and are available for production
- Manage raw materials, finished goods, stock counts and tooling control
- Support crane servicing, repairs and equipment fault escalation
Continuous Improvement
- Identify efficiency, cost, and quality improvements
- Support problem‑solving and new system/technology implementation
Team Leadership
- Run daily toolbox meetings; drive "Conformance to Plan, Quality Today, All Home Safe Today"
- Train new and existing operators, complete SOP sign‑offs, conduct reviews
- Promote Fletcher Building values and build a high‑performance culture
About You
- Experience in precast, concrete, or industrial manufacturing
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to read drawings and understand specifications
- Practical, hands‑on operator with strong safety and quality focus
- Organised, adaptable, and proactive
