Traffic Signs Technician

Directionz is a specialist contractor installing and maintaining traffic signs, roadside barriers, bus stops, and other roadside assets across the Central Waikato region. With over 25 years of industry experience, we work with local councils, government agencies, and contractors to deliver reliable and high-quality road safety infrastructure.

We are looking for a Traffic Signs Technician to join our team based in Avalon, Hamilton.

This is a hands-on outdoor role where you’ll learn specialist skills while working on projects that directly improve road safety across the region.

What You'll Be Doing

Installing and maintaining traffic signs across the Wellington region Installing roadside barrier systems and street furniture Working around bus stops and other roadside assets Reading plans and carrying out installations to specification Recording completed work using digital systems Working independently or alongside other technicians No previous traffic signage experience is required — full training will be provided.

We’re looking for someone who is reliable, practical, and takes pride in their work.

You should:

Have a positive attitude and willingness to learn Hold a full or restricted NZ Class 1 driver licence and be able to drive a manual vehicle Be comfortable with physical outdoor work, including digging and lifting Be comfortable working at heights, including ladders or elevated work platforms Be able to read plans and work logically through tasks Be capable of working independently while maintaining high standards Be comfortable using basic computer systems for work records Have a strong focus on health and safety What We Offer

Traffic Management qualifications (TTMW, TMO, STMS) Experience with Thinkproject AWM / RAMM Site Safe or Construct Safe certification First Aid training If you don’t currently hold these, Directionz will invest in training you.
