We are New Zealand’s largest, kiwi – owned metal recycling business, selling over 100,000 tonnes of scrap metal each year!
We are looking for an outgoing and physically fit individual to join our team in the front Buying Shed at our Wellington yard.
In this role you will be assisting with unloading and purchasing of metal that is brought into the yard by members of the public. Day to day you will be working alongside our busy Buying Shed crew to identify, weigh, sort and then move product for further processing. You will also be responsible for keeping the area swept and tidy.
The successful applicant will demonstrate the following skills:
- You must enjoy and have experience in dealing with customers face to face,
- be physically fit and well presented – as you are the face of the company.
- Can work on your own, be honest, and reliable.
- Have attention to detail with ability to problem solve quickly.
- Willing and ability to learn new skills.
- Strong focus in Health and safety
- Clean criminal record and ability to pass a drug and alcohol test.
- Clean and current Class 1 driver’s license.
- Have a current forklift license (preferred but for the right person training and certification will be provided).
- Team player with a positive attitude to getting a job done and working with colleagues.
- Be legally entitled to work in New Zealand, i.e., be a New Zealand or Australian citizen or a New Zealand permanent resident
We offer a vibrant and friendly team atmosphere and free training and upskilling.
The hours of work are Monday to Friday and Saturday morning as rostered or required. Weekly hours are between 40-50 hours per week.
