We’re currently looking for a motivated and experienced Machine Operator / Labourer to join our skilled rural works team. If you enjoy hands-on work, operating machinery, and being part of a tight-knit crew delivering meaningful projects—this could be the role for you.

About the Role

This is a dual-role position combining machine operation with hands-on labouring duties across a wide range of rural and civil construction projects throughout the region.

You’ll be working outdoors on varied and rewarding jobs, including land drainage, trenching, pipe laying, irrigation installation, and general civil works. No two days are the same.

This role suits someone who is:

Project Types You’ll Work On

· Pipe and cable laying

· Drainage and duct installation

· Rural roading, tracks, and driveways

· Water and effluent infrastructure

You’ll operate small to medium civil plant and machinery, assist with material handling, and support the crew to deliver high-quality outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

· Operate civil plant (excavators, loaders, tractors, compactors, trenching tools – based on competency)

· Carry out physical labouring tasks such as trenching, backfilling, and site preparation

· Assist with pipe, duct, and cable installation to specification

· Safely use hand and power tools

· Complete daily pre-start checks on machinery

· Follow all site health, safety, and environmental procedures

· Participate in toolbox meetings

· Maintain clean, safe, and organised work sites

· Secure machinery and materials for transport

· Accurately complete timesheets and job records

What You’ll Need

Essential:

· Strong work ethic and positive attitude

· Experience in civil construction or plant operation

· Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors

· Willingness to perform manual labour alongside machine operation

· Full Class 1 Driver Licence

· Strong commitment to health and safety

Preferred (but not essential):

· WTR endorsements and/or Class 2 licence

· Experience in drainage, water, or utilities

· Farming or rural work background

· Tractor operation and trailer towing experience
