Job description Machine Operator with GPS Final Trim Experience up to $43 per hour – Lower Hutt
We are seeking an experienced Machine Operator with GPS Final Trim experience for an ongoing, Monday to Friday role About the Role As a Machine Operator with GPS Final Trim experience, you will be responsible for high-accuracy earthworks and finishing operations on a major civil infrastructure site, while maintaining a Health & Safety–first approach at all times. Key responsibilities include:
- Operating GPS-controlled plant (excavators, graders, dozers, etc.) for final trim, formation, and subgrade preparation
- Using GPS machine control systems to work to tight tolerances, levels, and falls
- Reading and interpreting digital models, plans, and civil drawings
- Carrying out trimming, shaping, battering, boxing, and finishing works
- Coordinating with surveyors, engineers, and site supervisors to ensure accuracy and quality
- Conducting daily pre-start checks, basic maintenance, and GPS calibration
- Maintaining clean and well-organised work areas
- Assisting with general labouring and ground works when not operating machinery
- Strictly following site Health & Safety procedures, environmental controls, and toolbox talks
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience as a machine operator with GPS final trim experience
- Background working on large-scale civil or infrastructure projects
- Strong understanding of civil construction standards, levels, and specifications
- A clear Health & Safety–first mindset
- Willingness to get out of the machine and assist with labouring as required
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively in a team
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening
