Dogman/Rigger
Are you an experienced Dogman/Rigger looking for your next opportunity in Hawke’s Bay? Tradestaff is seeking skilled and safety-focused Dogman/Riggers to join our team working with established contractors on active worksites in Hastings. If you have experience with rigging and slinging operations, working around cranes, and take pride in doing the job right, we want to hear from you.
Location: Hastings, Hawke's Bay Start date: Immediate Pay rate: $35–$40 per hour depending on experience – paid weekly
The Role As a Dogman/Rigger, you'll play a key role in safe and efficient lifting operations on site. Working alongside crane operators and site teams, you'll be responsible for rigging, slinging, and directing lifts while maintaining high safety standards. This is a great opportunity to join a long-term project with established contractors in the Hawke’s Bay region.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely rig and sling loads using slings, chains, and wire ropes within working load limits
- Direct crane operators during lifting and placement operations
- Inspect lifting gear and ensure equipment is correctly set up and fit for purpose
- Communicate clearly with crane operators using hand signals and radio communication
- Follow lifting plans and site procedures
- Maintain strong health and safety standards on site
What We're Looking For
- NZQA Unit Standard 3789 – Sling regular loads and communicate during crane operations
- Dogman ticket preferred
- Proven experience with crane operations, rigging, and slinging
- Strong commitment to site safety and teamwork
- Reliable, motivated, and able to work effectively on busy worksites
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test
