Description
About the Role We are looking for a technically sharp and commercially minded Project Manager to join our team. You will be the vital link between our precision workshop and our clients, ensuring every project—from CAD drawing to site erection—is delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest NZ standards.
Key Responsibilities
- End-to-End Management: Oversee the full steel lifecycle, managing workshop capacities, welding processes, and material procurement.
- Technical Oversight: Review blueprints, CAD files, and 3D visualizations to ensure design feasibility and accuracy.
- Project Controls: Use software (POWERFAB) to track labour hours, forecast costs, and manage complex logistics for oversized loads.
- Compliance & Safety: Maintain strict adherence to AS/NZS standards and WorkSafe regulations, ensuring our SFC (Steel Fabrication Certification) requirements are met.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Act as the primary contact for architects, engineers, and site foremen, expertly managing scope changes and "on-the-tool" problem-solving.
What You’ll Bring
- Industry Experience: At least 6-8 years solid experience with structural steel for medium to large commercial projects.
- Qualifications: A degree in Construction Management, or a Level 6 National Diploma would be highly regarded.
- Financial Savvy: Strong skills in cost containment, estimating, and owner billings.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Soft Skills: A proactive problem-solver who can negotiate with contractors and lead a team under high-pressure deadlines.
