Dormer Construction Ltd is seeking an experienced Civil Project Manager/Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role offers the opportunity to lead on an upcoming large scale wastewater renewal project, as well as a range of civil works and pipeline projects across Canterbury and throughout the South Island.

We are seeking a professional with a strong background in the civil construction industry who can confidently manage projects from the planning stage through to successful completion.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to further develop their experience, engineering knowledge, and technical skillset within this role, working on significant projects. In addition, there is strong potential for continued progression in upcoming works, including large-scale earthworks, drainage, and piling projects.
Ideal applicant will be qualified in the following:
- NZ Diploma/Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
- NZ Diploma in Construction Management
Success in this role requires a highly organised, methodical approach, with a strong focus on planning and achieving key project milestones across both current and future works.
Excellent programming, communication, and time management skills are essential, along with the ability to effectively liaise on a daily basis with the onsite team, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure project timeframes and budgets are consistently met.
The role also involves reviewing project designs, drawings, documentation, and site activities to ensure full compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ability to identify project requirements & address identified project risks
- Multitask, prioritise to meet project deadlines
- Prepare monthly claims & commercial requirements
- Be onsite collecting and collating quality assurance data during site works
- Attend meetings regularly with client, subcontractors & stakeholders
Key Requirements:
- Expert in Microsoft Project & ability to programme works
- Maintain quality records to contract specifications & compliance
- Be able to resolve site issues, complexities and problems in a timely manner
- Understand CCC, ECan & WDC Specifications
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage complex projects
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
