Civil Project Manager

SBA Civil Limited is a fast-growing, privately owned civil contractor based in Wellington. We're looking for an experienced Project Manager to take ownership of project delivery on the ground — driving production, managing costs, and leading teams to deliver outstanding results. Reporting to the Contracts Manager, this is a hands-on, site-focused role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in getting projects built on time, on budget, and to the highest standard. What you'll be doing:

Taking full ownership of project delivery from inception through to completion Driving daily site production and keeping programmes on track Managing project financials including cost control, progress claims, and variations Leading and mentoring site teams to get the best out of people Ensuring quality, health & safety, and environmental standards are met on every project Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, engineers, subcontractors, and stakeholders Managing contracts under NZS 3910, including programme, RFIs, and correspondence Coordinating plant, labour, and materials to maximise efficiency on site

What you'll bring:

5+ years of civil construction project management experience, ideally with a strong drainage background Proven experience delivering projects in the Wellington region Solid understanding of NZS 3910 contract management Strong programme and production management skills The ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications Experience with job costing, progress claims, and financial reporting Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Excel, and general project management tools A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with strong communication skills Natural leadership ability and a genuine passion for getting things built
