Description

We're proud to partner with McKay Lang, a well-respected Christchurch-based commercial main contractor, to find an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their high-performing team. This is an opportunity for someone who wants to take real ownership of their work, bring energy and rigour to the role, and play a key part in the next phase of the company's growth.

What's in it for you:

  • Industry-leading company you'll be proud to represent
  • Diverse projects across high-end shop fit-outs & seismic strengthening
  • A stable, supportive, family-feel environment
  • Energetic and engaged leadership with a clear vision for the future
  • Clear opportunity to grow with the business as it continues to expand
  • $130,000 - $150,000 + full health insurance, phone, laptop

The company:

McKay Lang have been around for over 20 years, and in that time they have built a name that is synonymous with quality throughout the country. They are leaders in the high-end shop fit-out and seismic strengthening spaces, and they continue to grow and develop their offerings to push the limits of exceptional service within commercial construction in New Zealand. The business is mid-sized with a genuine family feel. The owners are hands-on, approachable, and deeply invested in both the day-to-day running and long-term growth of the company. Values-led and people-focused, McKay Lang is committed to creating an environment where great people can do their best work.

The role:

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will manage the full commercial lifecycle of your own portfolio of projects, including:

  • Take-offs, cost planning, and risk assessment
  • Subcontractor & supplier management and procurement
  • Preparing budgets, estimates, client pricing, and supporting estimating & contract administration
  • Managing claims, variations, and cost reporting
  • Final accounts and project close-out

You'll be part of a collaborative and supportive commercial team, but this role also requires a high level of autonomy. Each QS is trusted to manage their own workload, administration, and commercial outcomes. The commercial systems and processes are well established, with support in place to allow you to focus on delivery rather than firefighting.

What we are looking for:

  • Tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying
  • Proven NZ experience delivering projects with a main contractor
  • Strong capability with construction management and QS software
  • Team player, high-energy, and on board with the company mission
  • Excellent attention to detail, communication, and administration skills

Please apply online now, or fire your CV through to christchurch@heights.nz

Applicants may be required to undertake pre-employment alcohol and drug testing. Applicants for this position must have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa - sponsorship is not available.
