The Opportunity

We’re seeking a qualified carpenter with proven commercial construction experience to take the lead on commercial projects. You’ll oversee a core team of around 6, with the ability to coordinate up to 30 people during larger project phases.

Based in either Whanganui or Palmerston North, you’ll play a key part in delivering significant commercial builds—ensuring high-quality workmanship, strong team performance, and on-time project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead on-site teams to deliver high-quality commercial carpentry work
• Oversee and coordinate daily activities across crews, subcontractors, and site personnel
• Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and workflow efficiency
• Ensure project milestones are met on time and to specification
• Support a positive, hard-working, family-style team culture
• Communicate clearly with project managers, clients, and other stakeholders
• Take ownership of work standards and help drive project success

What You’ll Bring

• A relevant trade qualification in carpentry or similar
• Strong commercial construction experience (essential)
• Proven capability leading teams on active construction sites
• Solid understanding of NZ construction codes, practices, and laws
• Full NZ work rights and a current NZ driver’s licence
