Description

Quantity Surveyor

Traffica have recently employed a Senior Estimator and to support this role Traffica Requires a: Quantity Surveyor, who can provide technical costs data, quantity take offs and precise measurements, to assist bids for new projects and tenders alike.

Reporting to the Senior Civil Operations Manager & Senior Estimator, the Quantity Surveyor will also support the delivery of civil and roading projects by assisting with site coordination, measurement, quality assurance, reporting, and programme tracking to ensure projects are delivered in accordance with contract requirements, programme, and quality standards.

You may be a postgraduate/ junior QS looking to step up in your career path and may have had exposure/experience within Civil Construction or the building industry.

Position Requirements and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with planning and programming of civil projects, including labour, materials, plant, and subcontractor coordination
  • Carry out measurement and quantity take-offs from drawings and site records
  • Track project performance and analyse progress against programme and deliverables
  • Coordinate with Managers, Foremen, and Supervisors to establish daily and weekly work plans
  • Assist with preparation and maintenance of Microsoft Project programmes where required
  • Support site meetings, toolbox meetings, and coordination meetings as required
  • Assist in ensuring projects are delivered in accordance with Health & Safety requirements and relevant contract standards (including NZS 3910 where applicable)
  • Monitor and record onsite activities, including quality assurance, productivity, and progress
  • Conduct QA inspections and maintain QA documentation and records, Clegg & Scalar Testing
  • Assist with organising traffic control requirements and ensuring approved TMPs are in place
  • Support financial aspects of projects, including progress measurements, cost tracking, and documentation
  • Assist with preparation and assessment of variations, including supporting measurements and records
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, reports, and records

Skills and Competencies:

  • Good understanding of civil construction and roading projects
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Strong organisational, reporting, and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Project – desirable)
  • Ability to work across site and office environments
  • Preference given to exposure/ experience within Civil Construction

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Postgraduate Degree in Construction Management / Quantity Surveying
  • Excellent resource, planning, and time management skills
  • Proficient in Excel, Microsoft Project, or similar software
  • Full-time availability (maximum 40 hours per week)

Role Expectations and Working Conditions:

As a Quantity Surveyor you will work out of our Takanini based office, supporting the delivery of civil infrastructure projects including Roading and Footpath Upgrade Packages, Safety Improvement works, and Subdivision projects for clients, contractors, and AT Panel projects.

You will report directly to the Civil Operations Manager, Senior Estimator, and work under the guidance of Project Managers, Engineers, and Management.

Hours of work are Monday to Friday generally between the hours of 7am to 5pm. Includes a 1-hour lunch break, However, you are expected to take full ownership of Projects and make yourself available to Staff over the phone.

A company vehicle with fuel is provided and the salary expectation ranges from Junior to Intermediate $70,000.0 to 100,000.0

Training and Development For the bestfit candidate onsite Training & Mentoring will be provided inhouse PMP or Prince 2 training offered or refresher courses, in addition to scheduled intake for Construct safe and 1st Aid Courses. Weekly Programming meetings and Monthly Toolboxes are held at the office.
