About the role

We're looking for a Cable Locator to join our Networks Survey team. This is a field-based role where you'll play a key part in locating underground electrical services across WEL's network, helping protect critical infrastructure and keep people safe.

You'll be out on the network using specialised equipment, interpreting plans and diagrams, supporting fault response work when needed, and working closely with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities include:

  • locating underground electrical cables and services accurately and safely
  • using specialised service locating equipment and network drawings
  • supporting fault response and repair activity when required
  • reporting network abnormalities and helping to maintain accurate GIS and as-built information
  • planning and coordinating site activities
  • working closely with operations staff, control centre, dispatch, GIS, and other utilities.

Your skills and experience will include:

  • EWRB registration as an Electrical Services Technician (Level 3)
  • electrical industry knowledge, specifically distribution underground systems
  • knowledge of industry safety requirements
  • the ability to read and interpret diagrams and technical drawings
  • electrical safety statutory requirements
  • basic computer skills.
