Description

We are seeking an experienced Site Surveyor to join a large-scale solar farm construction project in Taupo. This is an opportunity to be part of a significant renewable energy development, working alongside a skilled project team in a fast-paced construction environment.

This role will suit a Surveyor who enjoys being close to the action, working collaboratively on site, and contributing to a project that will have a lasting impact on New Zealand’s energy future.

About the Role

Working as part of the site delivery team, you will be responsible for supporting daily construction activities through accurate surveying, set-out, and verification work. This is a hands-on role where attention to detail and strong communication with site teams will be essential.

Site operations currently run Monday to Saturday, 7:00am – 5:30pm, although flexibility can be considered for the right person. This is a temporary position with the potential to go permanent for a great candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out site set-out and survey control to support construction activities.
  • Perform stakeout and as-built surveys to ensure alignment with design specifications.
  • Manage and operate GNSS and total station equipment on site.
  • Support surface re-surveying and cut/fill verification, contributing to post-development accuracy.
  • Undertake quality checks on installed works, including verification of piles and structural elements.
  • Maintain accurate survey records and documentation.
  • Ensure all survey equipment is maintained, calibrated, and fit for purpose.
  • Work closely with site engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors to support delivery.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience as a Site Surveyor within civil, infrastructure, or construction projects.
  • Strong capability with survey equipment (GNSS, base/rover systems, total stations).
  • Experience with as-built surveys, set-out, and site verification.
  • Comfortable working with survey software and CAD tools (e.g. Magnet Field or similar).
  • Solid data handling skills, including use of Excel and reporting tools.
  • High attention to detail and a strong focus on accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently on site and communicate effectively with project teams.

Experience in large-scale earthworks, infrastructure, or renewable energy projects will be highly regarded.
