Senior STMS - Team Lead

Christchurch

We're looking for a Senior STMS - Team Lead to join a growing, group-backed business at the forefront of NZGTTM risk-based traffic management.

This is a hands-on, dynamic role offering genuine career progression and the opportunity to play a key part in delivering major South Island projects.

The position is split across:

• 50% on-site, leading crews as the STMS and ensuring safe, efficient delivery
• 50% office-based, supporting the coordination, scheduling and planning of traffic management operations

You'll act as a key link between field and operations - taking ownership of site performance while helping drive efficiency and team capability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily planning, scheduling and delivery of TTM services to ensure timely, cost-effective and compliant execution
• Manage and mentor a small team of Christchurch-based TTM staff, providing clear direction and support
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring satisfaction and long-term retention
• Drive our traffic function under the support of the Operations Manager
• Champion the transition from CoPTTM to the new NZGTTM risk-based approach to improve safety and operational outcomes

Ideal Candidate:

• Experienced STMS level 1 - preferably level 2 / 3 practising
• Proven experience in running sites independently, signing off TMPs on-site and dealing with corridor managers / inspectors
• Proven leadership and people management skills at a supervisory level
• Strong planning, scheduling and problem-solving abilities
• Full Class 1 driver's license (Class 2 preferred or ability to gain)
• Safety-minded, proactive, and committed to risk-based processes
