General Marine Services (GMS) is a proudly New Zealand-owned company with over 32 years of experience supporting boat builders, marine engineers, DIY owners, and superyacht professionals. From our busy Westhaven store, we supply fluid-handling and engineering solutions that keep vessels operating safely and efficiently.

We're looking for a Marine Sales Assistant who loves helping people solve practical problems and enjoys sharing knowledge about marine products, gear, and systems. This is a dynamic role where no two days are the same - you'll assist customers in store, over the phone, and online.

About You

You'll be someone who genuinely enjoys the boating and marine world - maybe you've spent time on the water, worked around boats, or simply love learning how things work. You'll also be an excellent communicator who can listen, explain technical details clearly, and build strong relationships with customers and colleagues.

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

• Strong spoken and written English with confidence interpreting technical information.
• A genuine interest in marine equipment, systems, or boating of any kind.
• Great people skills and a friendly, professional manner.
• The ability to stay organised and calm during busy periods.
• Solid computer literacy, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Some understanding of pumps, hoses, or fittings (or interest in learning fast).
• Eligibility to live and work in New Zealand.
