Description

Pātaka is a vibrant local government museum and art gallery located in Porirua. As well as showcasing the best in Māori, Pacific, & contemporary New Zealand arts, we also aspire to enhance the wellbeing of the people and communities of Porirua through the arts.

All about the job As a Gallery assistant you are the ‘face and host” of Pātaka providing first class customer service. This is a casual on call role, and you may be called in to work on any day of the week. We are especially looking for people to cover our weekend shifts, so availability on Saturdays and Sundays is an advantage.

Your exceptional customer skills will come into play when you:

  • positively interact with the public providing them with information about our retail store, hire facilities and our current Gallery programmes
  • provide assistance to the front of house team with setting up events and public programs along with ensuring all staff and the public are kept safe during opening hours
  • bring a fabulous customer service approach to the Toi store with merchandising and selling of bespoke New Zealand made jewellery and Art
  • complete opening and closing procedures alongside your fellow team members.

Porirua City is a living wage accredited employer and the starting hourly rate is from $29.00.

All about you

You’ll need to show us that you:

  • are available to work at short notice, including on the weekends.
  • enjoy and have experience working in a customer service environment
  • have some sales and retail experience
  • are confident interacting with others and have excellent communication skills
  • are familiar and confident with applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, along with the ability to learn new systems
  • an interest in the Arts would be an advantage, but not essential.
