About the Role:
BestStart Howick has an exciting opportunity for a caring, enthusiastic Caregiver to join our passionate and close-knit team. This role is ideal for someone who loves working with young children and wants to make a meaningful difference in their early learning journey.
As a Caregiver at BestStart, you will provide a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where tamariki can explore, learn, and grow. Reporting to the Centre Manager, you'll work alongside a dedicated team of teachers who are committed to delivering high-quality care and education. The centre focus is about bring communities together and building relationships, we have close links to several local schools and we value child-led learning, creativity, and strong relationships, and we support our team with ongoing professional development and a positive, inclusive workplace culture.
This is a permanent position working 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9am - 3.30pm.
What You'll Do:
In this varied and rewarding role, you will:
- Provide warm, responsive care and support to our tamariki
- Engage children in fun, meaningful learning experiences that extend their curiosity and development
- Support learning documentation and contribute to learning stories
- Participate in centre activities across all classrooms and support staff breaks as needed
- Work collaboratively with the team to support daily centre operations
- Build positive relationships with children, whānau, and colleagues
What We're Looking For:
- Previous experience working with children under five
- A natural affinity with children, particularly infants and toddlers
- A creative, play-based approach to learning
- Strong communication skills and a positive, team-focused attitude
- Initiative, flexibility, and the ability to take direction
