Centre Chef / Kaiako Support – Private ECE Centre Location: Child’s Wonder, Papamoa Hours: 8.30am – 3.00pm, Mon- Friday
We are a private Early Childhood Education centre in Papamoa, licensed for 43 children, seeking a caring and dependable Centre Chef to join our team. Our philosophy is centred on fostering a nurturing, supportive, and engaging learning environment where children’s wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do. Nutritious meals and positive daily interactions are an important part of our programme.
This position combines preparing healthy meals with supporting the teaching team on the floor when required. Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook nutritious meals and snacks for up to 43 children aged 3 months to 5 years'
- Plan menus in line with Ministry of Education guidelines and centre policies
- Cater for allergies, cultural needs, and dietary requirements
- Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen organisation
- Order and manage food supplies within budget
- Assist teachers on the floor when needed, supporting children and daily routines
About You
- some experience as a cook/chef (ECE/ similar environment preferred)
- Knowledge of food safety and nutrition
- Enjoy working with young children and being part of a team
- Willing and confident to support as a kaiako on the floor when required
- Reliable, flexible, and positive
- Holds, or is willing to obtain, NZ Police Vetting, First Aid, and Food Safety certification
