About the Role:

Connecting children to play, through our community! From trains to planes - we build connections between our centre, families and our amazing community. At BestStart MacDonald Street, we engage in regular meaningful community excursions to empower children to discover their sense of belonging within our vibrant Mount Maunganui community. This includes walking trips, visiting the nearby airport, and using our van to explore surrounding areas and local landmarks like Mauao.

We're on the lookout for a dedicated and friendly Van Driver who also loves cooking to join our team! In this important role, you'll be the smiling face that greets our tamariki and their whānau each morning and afternoon, ensuring safe and reliable transport to and from our centre. In addition to driving, you'll plan, prepare, and serve fresh, nutritious, and delicious meals each day. In this role, you'll create appetising, culturally diverse menus for morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea, while catering to a range of dietary needs. You'll bring strong time management skills and a solid understanding of child nutrition.

This is a fixed-term position working 40 hours per week (20 hours driving, 20 hours cooking) till 30th October 2026.

We're looking for someone who is:

• Enthusiastic, reliable, trustworthy, and caring
• A safe and experienced driver with a full NZ driver's licence and a clean police record
• Physically fit and comfortable assisting young children
• An excellent communicator who builds strong, positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues
• A passion for cooking and baking
• An understanding of food safety, allergies and dietary requirements
