Qualified ECE Teacher

Due to one of our teachers relocating out of the region, we are seeking a qualified and certificated Early Childhood Teacher to join our friendly and dedicated team. We are looking for someone who:

• Is passionate about environmental sustainability and committed to caring for and engaging with our local environment.
• Is reflective, open to professional growth, and committed to continuous improvement.
• Is a reliable and collaborative team player, with initiative, a good sense of humour, and the ability to work positively with a wide range of people.
• Confidently identifies and responds to children’s unique strengths, interests, working theories, learning dispositions, progress, and next learning steps.
• Has strong knowledge of Te Whāriki, Tātaiako, and current ECE pedagogy.
• Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication skills, along with strong time management.
• Is energetic and enjoys actively engaging in children’s play, including lively and physical experiences.
• Is confident using ICT, including Storypark, iPads, and Google Drive, to document and share learning.
• Has a strong foundation in te reo Māori and incorporates te reo Māori naturally and consistently into daily practice.
• Holds a NZ-recognised ECE diploma or degree.
• Holds current NZ Teaching Council registration and a current practising certificate.
• Is eligible to work in New Zealand.

Please include at least 2 referees, one of which being from the professional leader (the person responsible for your PGC) at your current or most recent centre.

About Us Ōpunakē Kindergarten is in the small coastal town of Opunake, Taranaki. We have purpose-built facilities and are an innovative, community-owned early childhood education centre with a dedicated and enthusiastic teaching team and excellent ratios. We cater for up to 60 children per day (across two rooms), aged 0–6 years.

This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday during school terms (we would consider 4 days per week). Salary is Full Pay Parity and based on the NZEI ECECA Collective Agreement.
