The Y Hawke’s Bay is looking for energetic, reliable and passionate Casual Outdoor Instructors to join our growing Outdoor Adventure Hub team based at Mitre 10 Park Hawke’s Bay.

Our Outdoor Adventure Hub provides fun, safe and accessible outdoor adventure experiences for schools, holiday programmes, youth groups and community organisations across Hawke’s Bay.

This is a casual position with flexible hours, ideal for someone who enjoys working with young people, being active outdoors, and helping others build confidence through adventure activities.

About the Role You will help deliver a range of instructor-led activities including:

• Kayaking
• Rafting
• Archery
• Rock Climbing
• Orienteering
• Team Building Activities
• Other outdoor recreation experiences

You will work alongside school groups, youth programmes, holiday programmes and community organisations to help create positive, safe and memorable experiences for participants.

What We’re Looking For We are looking for people who:

• Enjoy working with children and young people
• Have strong communication and group management skills
• Are confident instructing and engaging groups
• Can remain calm, professional and safety-focused
• Are team players with a positive attitude
• Have experience in outdoor recreation, adventure activities or youth work (preferred but not essential)

Experience in kayaking, rafting, climbing, archery or outdoor instruction is highly valued, however full training can be provided to the right candidates.

Requirements

• Full driver licence preferred
• First Aid Certificate desirable (or willingness to obtain)
• Ability to pass relevant police vetting and child safety checks
