Description
This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day running of the programme, ensuring children are safe, engaged, and having fun. You’ll lead a small team, manage operations, and help deliver high-quality care and activities.
Hours of employment: Up to 30 hrs per week during term time made up of Before School, After School and Admin hours and up to 50 hrs per week during school holidays. These are flexible hours.
Key Responsibilities: Programme and Team Leadership
- Ensure the smooth daily running of the programme
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of children and staff at all times
- Create a fun, inclusive environment that supports children’s developmental needs
- Build positive relationships with children, parents and staff
- Be responsible for employing staff and ensuring they are well equipped and supported to undertake their duties to a high standard.
Health & Safety
- Ensure compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015
- Have a full First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
Administration, Operations and Financial Management
- Ensure compliance with Level 3 Social Service Accreditation Standards.
- Undertake all daily administrative requirements e.g. attendance, bookings, absences.
- Assist with all financial administration including, payroll, banking and maintaining accurate records (MYOB experience an advantage)
- Be responsible for planning and delivery of all programmes.
About You We’re looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in working with school aged children with an excellent understanding of child developmental needs.
- A confident leader with staff supervision experience
- Passionate about supporting children and families
- Highly organised with strong administrative skills
- A great communicator with strong interpersonal skills
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Calm, reliable, and solutions-focused
- Committed to Te Tiriti O Waitangi and inclusive practise
- Has a sense of fun with a positive, energetic attitude
- Tertiary qualifications in education, childcare, or recreation are an advantage
As this is a Core Worker role as per the definition under the Children's Act 2014 you will be police vetted and safety checked as part of the employment process.
