Pompallier Catholic College is a co-educational Year 7-13 State Integrated Catholic College with 650 students in Whangarei. We are seeking an enthusiastic, vibrant, self-motivated Homestay Coordinator who is keen to support our growing base of International Students.

You will be responsible for:

  • Placement of international students in an appropriate homestay.
  • Recruiting, training, inspecting and monitoring of host families.
  • Regular communication with students, host families, students’ families, and agents.
  • Scheduling pick-ups and placements of foreign students.
  • Record keeping, documentation and other administration tasks.
  • Participating in student events and school activities.

The successful candidate will have the following skills:

  • Excellent communication skills and an empathetic and approachable disposition.
  • Strong IT skills – it would be an advantage to have knowledge of KAMAR, e-School and Microsoft suites.
  • Ability to relate to youth and their families.
  • Highly organised with good attention to detail.
  • Clean drivers’ licence and a car.

This position averages 8 hours per week, some of these hours will be flexible and involve after hours’ communication with host families when required. There will be some occasional evening and weekend duties. This role is predominantly term time; the additional hours are to meet the expectations of the job description. This is a flexible role and offers variety and autonomy as you will be able to work from home and in school.

This role would suit someone who loves working with young people and their families, as you will be providing pastoral support to students.

Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Support Staff in Schools’ Collective Agreement and this position has been graded as Grade 3. The hourly rate will be based on experience.

The successful applicant must be willing to undergo a Police Vetting check, and appointment and commencement is subject to a satisfactory check.
