About the role:

This role involves working alongside teachers to support individual students and small groups, including those with additional learning needs. As a Teacher Aide / Kaiāwhina, you will help create inclusive, engaging learning environments and build positive, respectful relationships with students and whānau.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting learning programmes under teacher guidance
  • Working with individuals and small groups to build confidence and skills
  • Assisting with behaviour support in a positive, respectful way
  • Helping to create safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environments
  • Contributing to a strong team culture and positive school environment

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with children (school or community settings)
  • Is patient, empathetic, and able to build strong relationships
  • Is responsive to diverse cultures and backgrounds
  • Can support neurodiverse learners (e.g. autism, ADHD) with understanding and flexibility
  • Works well as part of a team and takes initiative when needed
  • Has a willingness to engage with te reo Māori and the bicultural foundations of Aotearoa New Zealand

What we offer:

  • A supportive and collaborative team environment
  • Opportunities to grow skills and experience
  • The chance to make a real difference in the lives of our students
  • A school that values strong relationships and inclusion

If you are passionate about supporting children to succeed and want to be part of a school that is more than just a school; it is a community, we would love to hear from you.
