Outdoor Education Support Person School Support Staff | EOTC | Part-time (9 hours per week)

We are looking for a practical, reliable Outdoor Education Support Person to support our senior Outdoor Education programme during Education Outside the Classroom (EOTC) activities.

This role involves supporting Level 2 and Level 3 Outdoor Education classes, with a strong focus on student safety, wellbeing, and smooth trip delivery. The Teacher in Charge (TIC) leads all activities — you’ll be there to support transport, logistics, and students.

Hours of work 9 hours per week

School term time only

Mondays: 1:00–4:00pm

Thursdays: 1:00–4:00pm

Fridays: 12:00–3:00pm

What you’ll be doing Driving the school van to and from Outdoor Education activities

Supporting the Teacher in Charge during trips and practical sessions

Monitoring and supporting the wellbeing and safety of ākonga

Administering basic first aid when required

Adapting to outdoor and changing environments

Building positive relationships with students

When trips don’t go ahead (e.g. due to weather or wider school events), you will be asked to support within the Health, Physical and Outdoor Education learning area. This could include assisting in PE classes or helping with gear stocktake and organisation.

What we’re looking for Enjoys working with young people in outdoor settings

Calm, responsible, and safety-focused

Full, clean NZ driver licence (ability to drive a school van is essential)

First aid experience or willingness to be trained

Able to follow direction and work as part of a team
