We welcome applications for a Bilingual Learning Assistant with proficiency in Pashto and English.
Tenure: Fixed term, part time, 2.5 hrs per week (not including term breaks)
Monday 9 March - Thursday 2 April (term 1) Monday 20 April - Friday 3 July (term 2) 2.5 hours per week as above, not including term breaks Specialist skills: Pashto and English language
We are seeking to appoint a speaker of Pashto and English to the fixed-term position of Bilingual Learning Assistant. The position is for 2.5 hours per week, based in Learning Support (Aukaha).
The position starts Monday 9 March or by arrangement.
Role: learning assistance and support for a learner and family whose first language is Pashto.
Major focus: communication support between the learner, her parents and teachers as they transition into Aukaha.
Aukaha - Learning Support The whakatauki: “Aukaha kia kaha” - strengthen the bonds refers to the binding necessary for waka or tools to be practical and useful, for example fastening the rauawa to the hull of the waka thus tightening the bindings. The name Aukaha relates to our cultural narrative (Ngāi Tūāhuriri), and to the bonds strengthened between all ākonga-learners. We have the privilege of operating our specialist programme called Aukaha for ākonga verified for the On-going Resourcing Scheme (ORS). Our Aukaha special programme currently supports 20+ ākonga, led by our teachers and supported by our dedicated learning assistants/teacher aides.
