Description

We welcome applications for a Bilingual Learning Assistant with proficiency in Somali and English.

Tenure: Permanent, part time, 7 hrs per week term time only (not including term breaks)

Specialist skills: Somali and English language

We are seeking to appoint a speaker of Somali and English to the permanent position of Bilingual Learning Assistant. The position is for 7 hours per week, based in our English Language Learning (ELL) department.

The position starts Monday, 20 April or by arrangement.

Role: Learning assistance and support in English-medium classes for students whose first language is Somali

Major foci:

  • written work the students produce improves over the time they are supported
  • academic language students use in their writing improves over the time they are supported
  • communication between home and school is effective
