New Zealand Airline Academy Ltd. (NZAAL) is a flight training organisation based at Oamaru airport, certificated by CAA New Zealand and CAA Vietnam. Catering mainly to international students, NZAAL operates the newest fleet of touchscreen glass cockpit aeroplanes in New Zealand, with modern safety features that are endorsed by all senior pilots who visit us. Due to our expansion into Whanganui in January 2026, we require instructors for this base. The role will require teaching of theory courses for 6 months and then transitioning to a flying duties.
We are seeking a full time (40 hours / week) C category flying instructor to join the team. CCAT's with 0 hours of instructing experience will be preferred. Ideally, applicants will have the following as a minimum:
- a current C category instructor rating issued by CAA NZ.
- a current Class 1 medical certificate.
- glass cockpit experience.
- studied or worked in an environment that includes international students.
- be willing to conduct theory courses for 6 months.
- weigh not more than 85 KG for local instructional flights and 80 KG for cross country instructional flights due to operational Weight & Balance restrictions.
- be available for an immediate start.
To be successful in the role, you must:
- demonstrate a clear understanding of NZCAA rules.
- demonstrate a willingness to learn in the role.
- have a keen interest in the success of international students enrolling in this programme.
- be flexible in the hours that you will be working.
The following are not a minimum but would be desirable:
- experience on touchscreen Garmin G3X glass cockpits.
- Any additional instructor privileges.
- lived or worked in a small town.
In return, you will:

- receive an annual wage of $48,880.
