We are looking for an experienced Weld Inspector to join our team, supporting quality assurance across our workshop and project sites. This is a hands-on role where you’ll work closely with our fabrication teams to ensure high standards of workmanship, compliance, and continuous improvement.
Based in Napier, this role offers variety, responsibility, and the opportunity to be part of a practical, solutions-focused team. Occasional travel to project sites will be required.
About the Role In this role, you will be responsible for welding inspection and supporting quality assurance processes across both workshop and site-based projects. You’ll play a key role in maintaining quality standards while building strong working relationships with operational teams.
Key Responsibilities Carry out welding inspections in line with relevant standards and procedures Support QA/QC processes, including NCRs, rework tracking, and documentation Work alongside workshop teams to ensure quality expectations are understood and met Provide practical guidance to improve weld quality and consistency Assist with inspections and quality documentation for project work Coordinate and support external NDT inspections, including recording results and maintaining accurate reporting documentation.
What We’re Looking For Proven experience in a welding inspection role within engineering, fabrication, or heavy industry Strong practical knowledge of workshop and/or site environments Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and welding procedures Good communication skills and the ability to work with a wide range of people Formal welding inspection qualification (e.g. CSWIP, CBIP, AS/NZS 2214.1:2024or equivalent ) Experience supporting audits (desirable)
