Quantity Surveyor / Estimator

About Us: Croucher & Crowder is a well-established engineering company known for delivering high-quality projects across the Lower North Island. Due to a strong pipeline of upcoming work, we are seeking a motivated and experienced Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to join our dynamic team.

Role Overview: As a Quantity Surveyor / Estimator, you will play a key role in managing project costs and ensuring financial efficiency throughout all phases of construction. You will be responsible for preparing cost estimates, managing budgets, and supporting the tendering process for a variety of projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and bills of quantities (BOQs)
• Evaluate tender documents and prepare competitive bids
• Track project costs and report on budgets and financial progress
• Liaise with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders
• Conduct site visits to assess progress and variations
• Manage change orders and assist with contract negotiations

Requirements:

• Proven experience in a QS or estimating role, ideally in engineering
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and pricing
• Proficient in estimating software and MS Office (e.g., Excel)
• Excellent numerical and analytical skills
• Strong communication and negotiation abilities
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Desirable (but not essential):

• Familiarity with Excel, AutoCAD LT, Tekla, Revit and Bluebeam.
• Degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
