Description
Auckland | Full Time | Permanent $75,000 – $80,000 per annum
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineering Draftsperson to join our Auckland-based manufacturing team.
This role focuses on preparing detailed mechanical engineering drawings, 3D models and production-ready CNC files to support sheet metal fabrication, laser cutting and CNC machining operations.
About the Role
You will:
- Prepare detailed 2D and 3D CAD models and fabrication drawings
- Interpret customer-supplied drawings and technical specifications
- Analyse material and manufacturing requirements to support project costing
- Produce CNC-ready files and nesting layouts
- Generate Bills of Materials and production documentation
- Liaise with clients to clarify technical details
- Support internal product development projects
This is a technical drafting position embedded within a manufacturing environment.
Skills & Experience Required
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Design
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in mechanical drafting within a manufacturing or engineering environment
- Advanced CAD proficiency (SolidWorks, DraftSight or similar)
- Understanding of sheet metal fabrication and CNC processes
- Proficiency with nesting software (Almacam, SigmaNEST or similar)
- Strong attention to detail and technical accuracy
- Ability to work collaboratively within a production team
